A True Account of the
1911 "Tar Party" of Shady Bend, Kansas

After several years of research and preparationn, "A True Account of the 1911 Tar Party of Shady Bend, Kansas" was published by Village Lines.  Those of you familiar with locations and details in Lincoln County will find the book fascinating and those involved in Law Practice or Criminal Justice will find historic value in the 1911 procedures.  Other folks will delight in a book that is a real "page turner".  Straight from accounts written in Kansas newspapers, the book tells Lincoln County history that made national and international headlines, but for many years was unknown to local residents.

Shirley Buchanan, Executive Assistant at Village Lines compiled the accounts after learning of her great grandfather's involvement in the case.  With the help of Village Lines Owner, Marilyn Helmer, the book was completed.
